new turnings!!!

so lots of small pain over the last few weeks. i am getting better at turning bowls, and the finishes are getting better as well. however i am still using tools past their sharpness prime. so when i get started i have nice sharp tools. however halfway through, not so much. i need more tools to keep my current tools sharp during a process. "you get that momma!!!!"

i have also jumped into the pen turning business. i tell you, the learning curve with machinery is a pretty steep and violent curve.

newbies

so by newbies, no i am not talking about new people. new things. more things.

razor site and stuff:
so still working to get this up and going. i am in a funding shortage until i can sell some razors to pay for the site to.......sell some razors. i should have some sold over the next few weeks. this should help to get me up and going.

hobbies:
volleyball is going well. coaching is getting better and the teams that i am working with seem to be improving rapidly. they pick up ideas and i am enjoying the time teaching.
cubing is going normal. i get to solve a couple of times a week. not getting any faster, but still get to solve some and waste a few minutes.

juggling again. i will probably start posting more about this as well. for the longest time, i have been able to juggle 3 balls, however not for anything longer than for maybe a minute. and nothing other than a cascade pattern(typically what you see when people juggle 3 items). i have always wanted to do different patterns, and learn to juggle more items.
so i have been working on different 3 ball patterns, as well as throwing over the shoulder, backcrosses, under leg, 1 up 360 spins, 2 up 360, 3 up 360.
and i have been practicing 4 ball juggling. last week i was having a hard time getting a 4 ball flash down. this means throwing up each ball and cathing each ball one time. i watched a guy on youtube named ctjuggles and his instructions really helped me to break things down and improve. yesterday while the kids and i were playing in the backyard, i was able to make 50 catches. i was indeed happy.
my next goal is to learn a few more 3 ball patterns, to get better at backcrosses, to be able to juggle 4 balls for 1 minute. and i hope to get some clubs in the near future. i really want to start juggling clubs. but like everything else, money lacking.

kiddos are doing great. boys are imitating everything that we and pua are doing. so we really gotta be careful on what we are doing around them. pua is just a super princess. she bosses her boys around and plays with them really well. we are really proud of all the kiddos.

okay, so another update withing a 6 month timeframe. i'm pretty happy about that. we will see how long till the next one.

weekend update

so decent weekend. coached the 14's in the skyline earlybird tourney. we went 2-4 on saturday putting us in silver bracket. great thing is we were not last in the pool. sunday lost a close 3set match to put us into the 5th place match. come to find out, the team won that match and took 5th in the silver bracket. not gold, and not 1st, but quite a ways from last. so happy times. i hope that this can drive some confidence into this team. i was very proud.

bought my drill press today. that much closer to making custom pens. just need a few more supplies and i will be churning out Christmas presents in no time. also over the end of last week, i figured out a way to make a at home grinder to work on razors. i need to make a few more pieces to do different size blades, but i got a great start.

child is sick. she has strep. my throat has been bothering me as well, so i will be going to the dr. tomorrow. missing another day at work. bummer for me and my sickdays. 2 down and not even through january.

longtime, new site a coming

so it's been a while. i will try to be better this year about posting. i am starting a new site and business restoring straight razors and making custom shave brushes. i will be using this site and that one to hopefully explore my creativity.

i purchased a lathe this year and have been having a blast with it. created some cool brushes, a few bowls, and some other nic nacs. i have to justify the time spent playing with the money i can get back out of it.

also this year i hope to start making custom pens and pencils. mostly as gifts and some small income, but nothing i can retire off of.

family is wonderful. check out the family site to the right. wife keeps that one pretty well updated. new pics and family offerings and such.

look, another one

another post within a month, amazing huh!!

just want to look back on 2007. let's see.... there are so many things that did happen, however i really only care to share with a few. the first one that seeemed to take my time up is that i finally grew a pair of brass cajones and started shaving with a straight razor. one of those manly things i always wanted to do, but did not know where to start. i borrowed a straight, strop, brush and soap from father in law. this straight is from the 60's. i later acquired another from the early 1900's. this is my current str8. i am very happy with it. check out straight razor place, or the shave den. 2 very good sites for reference, resources, or just curiosity.

i have been trying to learn to play the guitar for some time now. finally this year i did learn. while i am not great, i have a better understanding of playing a few chords. my father sang country, but more importantly, he sang to his kids. that is what i wanted to do. well, that i can now do. 26 years, my dad would have taught me at the drop of a hat. i never asked. dumbass.

Christmas was the last straw. over Christmas, i picked up a rubiks at the in-laws. amazing what you tube can teach you.over the next 3 days, i learned to solve my 1st scrambled cube. took me about 10 min. now i have it down to about 3 min. i am not trying to set any records, however, i would like to get faster.

anyway, hopefully i will get either some pics or vids up soon.

this just in, i have no more hair. 2 years growth gone. donated to the http://www.locksforlove.com/ . i hope some little girl enjoys it and has a great Christmas present with it.

the pic with the brick was an inside joke. taken 12.21.07. thanks to str8s, this is the most facial hair this punk has ever had. ever. ever!!!

if you ever grow your hair to any respectable length, cut it and donate it. if it is to short for locks for love to use, they sell it to i guess toupee companies maybe to fund other needs they have. a great Christmas present that i can give.
